Dubai to host the FiFi Arabia 2013
Dubai – The Fragrance Foundation Arabia announced that Wednesday, 30 October 2013 is the official date of this year’s FiFi Arabia Awards ceremony. Globally known as “Oscars of Fragrances” and recognized as the region’s most important fragrance event, the fourth annual FiFi Arabia Awards will be held at the prestigious Conrad Dubai and will draw industry experts from across the region as well as Fragrance Foundation members from across the world.
Shahzad Haider, Chairman, Fragrance Foundation Arabia, said: “The Middle East has a rich heritage and impressive prowess in the fragrance industry. Middle Eastern people are one of the most passionate users of perfumes in the world, and the region is now a common ground for a very healthy tussle between regional manufactures and international brands, both competing in this highly lucrative market.”
“Since the debut in 2010, the FiFi Awards have provided a much-needed regional forum for the exchange of ideas, industry concerns and creative achievements. This year the event will build on the success of the previous years and promises to be bigger and more exciting”, added Haider.
The event will see industry experts select the best fragrances across 15 categories in the Arabic, and international male and female segments. Consumers will also get to nominate and vote for their favorite perfumes from international fragrance houses as well as Arabic oud scents popular across the Arab world.
Commenting on the new category added to the Awards for 2013, Haider explained: “The Arab world currently has the highest per capita spend globally on fragrances and beauty products, it was obvious to have new and young talent emerging on the background of regional and international players. Fragrance Foundation Arabia believes that recognition plays a vital role in the progression of any industry and fragrance is no exception. It not only creates a healthy competition among leading players but also expands the category.”

The FiFi Awards is an annual event that was first held in the U.S. in 1973, sponsored by The Fragrance Foundation, a non-profit organization that was instituted to honor the fragrance industry’s creative achievements, and is the most prominent and prestigious celebratory event of the fragrance industry. With its own ‘hall of fame,’ this prestigious, iconic event showcases the very best the fragrance world has to offer. Every year, New York City is host to the entire international fragrance community with awards presented by celebrities from the world of fashion, film and television.
The Fragrance Foundation Arabia was established in 2008 with the main goal of promoting the fragrance industry in the region, enhancing its image, and expanding the appreciation and use of fragrance in all its forms across all distribution channels globally. The FiFi Arabia Awards is part of the realization of that goal.
