Region’s Doctors-In-Training Given Boost by ICLDC

Leading Specialists Deliver MRCP Exam Study To Junior Doctors in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) is offering the region’s junior doctors a chance to prepare for the UK’s Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) examination, globally-recognised as a quality benchmark of medical knowledge and clinical skills.

In the second of the series for 2015, MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 will take place at ICLDC’s Abu Dhabi facility from May 9-12.

The actual MRCP qualification is designed to test the skills, knowledge and behaviour of doctors-in-training, with the Abu Dhabi-based exam preparation workshops run by ICLDC specialists, in partnership with UK’s Hammersmith Medicine.

“As part of the ICLDC Education Series, the purposed-designed MRCP workshops provide junior doctors with the structure and core knowledge that forms the bedrock for revision and ultimately exam success,” said Professor Karim Meeran, Course Leader and Chair of ICLDC’s Medical Board.

He noted that MRCP Part 1 recognises physicians-in-training who possess a broad knowledge and understanding of common and important disorders, as well as clinical science.

Meanwhile, MRCP Part 2 demonstrates the attainment of the minimum level of knowledge expected for a junior doctor, and the ability to apply this knowledge to clinical problem solving and clinical practice.

“We update the MRCP course content before each workshop to ensure it is tailored to the evolving MRCP syllabus and most recent exam content,” Professor Meeran advised.

He added that the courses will also be offered again in late 2015 at ICDLC’s purpose-designed facilities which offer easy access to a number of hotels and Abu Dhabi International Airport.

MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 are accredited by Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) for 21.5 and 22 CME hours respectively.

“It is also good to note that the course lecturers consistently achieve excellent feedback for their MRCP teaching,” Professor Meeran concluded.
