Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – In celebration of the Songkran Festival, Thailand’s traditional New Year’s Day festival, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi is offering discerning guests renowned Thai hospitality, food and traditions.
From 9 – 12 April, 2014, visitors can learn about the traditions and culture of the Songkran Festival at the resort’s award winning Southeast Asian restaurant – Sontaya.
Adding to the celebrations, guests of the festival will have the chance to win a stay in the Thai themed Spa Suite at the resort which is located on the white sands and azure waters of Saadiyat Island. While staying in the distinctive suite, the winner will enjoy a Thai massage and candle-lit dinner for two on the tranquil beach.
Delectable cuisine will be presented by Thai Chef de Cuisine Peter Peerapong, which will highlight the distinctive aromas of the Southeast Asian region, while the live cooking in the show kitchen demonstrates the preparation of Thai cuisine. Dishes include butterfly pea flower dumplings and stuffed baby aubergine with braised Wagyu cheek.
The Thai inspired menu, which is available for dinner only (6:30pm – 10:30pm), is priced at AED 375 per person and subject to 10% service charge and 6% tourism fee.
With Thai music and dancers, guests will also enjoy iconic boats floating on the waterways of Sontaya.
