Abu Dhabi, UAE: Junior doctors facing the tough proposition of passing the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) examination have the chance to prepare in the UAE at Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC).

ICLDC’s Abu Dhabi facility is hosting two, three-day programmes next month, May 9-11, designed to ready doctors-in-training for the sought-after MRCP Part 1 and part 2 examinations.

Course leader, Imperial College London’s Professor Karim Meeran said the three-day syllabus provides carefully considered study geared to passing either exam.

“In just a few days young doctors can gain a clear idea of exactly what is required to pass either MRCP examination. It’s ideal for the region’s young doctors who might otherwise have to travel for this important preparation.”

The courses are part of Imperial College London Diabetes Centre’s (ICLDC) commitment to specialist education and are accredited by Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) for 21.5 and 22 CME hours respectively.

MRCP Part 1 recognises physicians-in-training who possess a broad knowledge and understanding of common and important disorders, as well as clinical science.

MRCP Part 2 demonstrates the attainment of the minimum level of knowledge expected for a junior doctor, and the ability to apply this knowledge to clinical problem solving and clinical practice.

Meanwhile two new courses take place over the same weekend. Diabetes Weekend Intensive Course (DWIC) and Cardiovascular Update (CU) are recent additions to ICLDC’s Education Series in 2014.

DWIC offers an essential overview of diabetes, from diagnosis through management and is considered essential for any medical practitioner who has an interest in or treats patients living with diabetes.

The Cardiovascular Update is a half-day intensive focusing the very latest developments in cardiology, with a special emphasis on cases and practice guidelines.

Registration for MRCP Part 1 & 2 can be made online at www.mrcp.icldc.ae or www.icldc.co.uk or for all programmes email cme@icldc.ae or call + 971 2 404 0870
