Synopsis of the Nutcracker
The Nutcracker is a story set in the Victorian era on Christmas Eve. The main characters
Clara and Fritz (sister and brother) await a Christmas party and as the children enjoy themselves at the party a mysterious man arrives in dark clothing who turns out to be their Godfather bringing gifts.
Clara receives a Nutcracker which she enjoys until Fritz takes it from her and breaks it. The Godfather repairs this for Clara and as the guests leave she falls asleep with the Nutcracker in her arms. Then she dreams of a battle between Toy Soldiers and a Mouse Army. She then comes to a snow forest and there the snowflakes turn in to dancing maidens.
Clara then enters the land of sweets and there she sees a sugar plum fairy who shows her Russian dancers a Mother Ginger with her children, Arabian dancers, Chinese dancers, Spanish dancers, Reedpipes and dancing flowers. Clara wakes next morning with the Nutcracker in her arms!
