OMEGA AND GOODPLANET FOUNDATION JOIN FORCES TO PRESERVE THE OCEANS ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

To mark World Environment Day on 5th June, OMEGA and GoodPlanet Foundation launch a joint campaign for the preservation of the world’s oceans.

The movie Planet Ocean available in full version on YouTube

This campaign aims to introduce the largest possible audience to the mysteries of our blue planet by providing free public on-line access to the film Planet Ocean directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot. This documentary feature film will be available in its full version on the YouTube channel “Planet Ocean-The Movie” (http://www.youtube.com/PlanetOceanTheMovie) from 5th June onwards.

With Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s breathtaking aerial images, striking underwater photography filmed by award-winning cameramen and contributions from renowned oceanographers and biologists, Planet Ocean takes viewers on a ground-breaking voyage across the world’s oceans, exploring the ancient but often fragile relationship that links marine life and humanity.

A free new mobile application

Thanks to the ground-breaking free mobile application “Planet Ocean”, OMEGA and GoodPlanet Foundation, in partnership with Seaweb Europe, also invite us to take action as consumers.

Available for both Apple and Android systems, this app aims to provide each user with the tools to support responsible consumption of the products of the sea. Educational and practical, it contains 80 profiles of different species of fish, arranged according to their regions of origin and current stock levels. The app also enables the exploration of different fishing techniques and the impact of each on the environment. This information makes it possible to identify which species can be eaten without compromising eco-systems, and which should be avoided or consumed in moderation in order to preserve the oceans and the marine environment.
