CHIN IMPLANT SURGERY GAINING PROMINENCE IN GULF
– ‘Chin implant surgery to portray a strong character’ – numbers on the rise in the GCC region in accordance with soaring international figures
15 July 2012 – In the past year alone chin implant surgery figures have escalated worldwide and the surgery’s popularity is now gaining some momentum in the GCC region, according to Dr. Toledo, one of the UAE’s leading certified plastic surgeons. With rising confidence in cosmetic surgery in the region, numbers are increasing.
Although the surgical procedure has been available for decades, the demand for chin implants combined with liposculpture is becoming a popular procedure due to its rejuvenating results.
Speaking on this demand from a regional perspective, Dr. Toledo said: “Since patients here are well informed and follow the international tendencies and patterns of beauty, the numbers increase as patients are feeling more confident in undergoing surgery here.”
The chin implant surgery has not only attracted female patients. Men are also undergoing the procedure to achieve a stronger chin, due to the impression that more prominent features portray a stronger character.
Commenting on male demand for the surgery, Dr. Toledo said: “When the chin is small there is a preconceived idea that the patient has a weak character. This obviously has no correlation with reality, but it is a perception that people have. Men who have to show an image of strong character in their profession often opt for this technique. Sometimes growing a beard isn’t enough.”
Dr. Toledo added: “The face has to have a balance, proportions are important. The beautiful face has high points in the cheek bones and the chin, forming a triangle of beauty. When these points are not proportional the face lacks attractiveness.”
