Abu Dhabi, UAE: The challenge posed by the high diabetes prevalence worldwide is the focus of a new conference launched by Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) next month, May 9-10.

Diabetes Weekend Intensive Course (DWIC) is set to spark conversations around the latest figures from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), suggesting that 382 million people worldwide are living with diabetes.

The two-day weekend event for medical practitioners is one of the latest additions to ICLDC’s growing Education Series portfolio comprising more than 20 events per year.

The upcoming conference, DWIC, will be presented by ICLDC specialists, as well as experts from Imperial College London. It will offer timely medical updates specific to diabetes, from diagnosis to management.

Another new ICLDC Education Event is Cardiovascular Update, a half-day intensive which will share the very latest developments in cardiology, with a special emphasis on case studies and practice guidelines.

Imperial College London’s Dr John Chambers is delivering the session offered at no cost by ICLDC to support the continuous education of the region’s medical faculty. It is accredited by HAAD for 2 CME hours, and will share strategies for lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Meanwhile, two more events are also taking place at ICLDC’s purpose-designed lecture facilities over the same weekend.

MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 are hosted several times a year offering junior doctors high standard preparation as they study for Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians examination. Participants are also awarded HAAD-accredited CME points of 21.5 and 22 hours respectively.
