Regional Culinary Connoisseurs Choose The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort for Preferred Dining Venues

A slew of awards in 2013 for the resort demonstrate a new standard for dining in the capital

Awarded by BBC Good Food Middle East Awards as Best Restaurant in Abu Dhabi, as well as Best Steakhouse at the What’s On Abu Dhabi Awards and Highly Commended Steakhouse by the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards, the resort’s signature restaurant – 55&5th, The Grill is inspired by the address of the original St. Regis New York. The classic grill and lounge features a private dining room and exclusive cellar, and offers jazz music, cigars and bespoke service.

Sontaya, meaning sunset in Thai, is a culinary mosaic of Southeast Asian ambience and flavoursome fare, recognised by the Time Out Restaurant Awards as Best Southeast Asian Restaurant. With its floating glass walled pavilions amidst a series of interconnected ponds and pools, the venue exudes romance by night while the signature cocktails complement the venue’s exuberance by day.

Turquoiz Beach Restaurant & Lounge, whose name embodies the ocean that enwraps the island and captivates guests on arrival, was awarded Best Seafood Under AED 400 at the What’s On Abu Dhabi Awards. The beach restaurant with large sunset terrace is a vibrant venue, set apart from the hotel as a rustic series of buildings strung out along the sand, and offers fresh seafood in a vibrant setting.

Offering the Best Afternoon Tea in the capital according to the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards, The Drawing Room in the resort’s stunning lobby celebrates the time-honoured culture of afternoon tea, a cherished tradition that is carried out as flawlessly as it was a century ago under the discerning eye of Lady Astor.

“The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort takes great pride in receiving these outstanding awards, and we are delighted to continue offering culinary excellence through our remarkable dining venues and unique settings, where guests have the opportunity to pamper their palates,” said Stewart Selbie, General Manager of The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi.

“Out of the hundreds of venues in the city, we are pleased to continue being the destination of choice for discerning guests,” Selbie added.
